Timber & Biomass Demo

Ponsse - Rotochopper Map.

  • Friday, August 3rd

  • 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

  • Central Wisconsin | Map

Rotochopper is teaming up with Ponsse, a world leader in forestry equipment, for an exclusive in-the-woods timber harvesting and biomass grinding demonstration in central Wisconsin. To be hosted on a 15-acre clear cut logging site, this demonstration will showcase a complete cut-to-length timber harvesting and forestry slash biomass operation.

Ponsse - Rotochopper Timber & Biomass Demo.

During the demonstration, Ponsse equipment will be used to harvest the saleable timber, transport the forestry slash (logging residue) to the grinding site, and load the slash into Rotochopper grinding equipment. The Rotochopper grinders will process the slash to a uniform particle size and load it into trailers, which will haul it to a biomass power facility.

This demo qualifies for Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) credits; see below for more information.

Ponsse Forestry Equipment

Ponsse Forwarder.Timber Harvesting

Timber will be harvested by 8wd Ergo and 6wd Ergo harvesters. Unmatched in ergonomics and efficiency, the Ponsse Ergo is a highly versatile harvester for demanding terrain.

During the felling process, the Ergo harvesters will cut all the saleable timber to length. The harvesters will also delimb the logs, leaving all the branches, tops, and unusable stems on the ground for later collection and grinding.

Timber & Slash Handling

The slash will be forwarded to the grinding site by Buffalo and Wisent forwarders. From regeneration to thinning, Ponsse forwarders navigate rough terrain with superior flotation and agility.

Rotochopper Grinding Equipment

Rotochopper FP-66.The slash will be processed to finished biomass specifications by a B-66 horizontal grinder with tracks and transport dolly and an FP-66 horizontal grinder.
