Simply put, the RG-1 is the only machine designed from the bottom up for the unique challenges of shingle recycling: the abrasiveness and cohesiveness of asphalt shingles and the demanding end product size requirements. Every other machine marketed as a shingle grinder is simply a wood grinder with special teeth, screens, and other add-ons to make it more suitable for asphalt shingles. Since we began manufacturing the RG-1, its unique design and performance have been changing the way asphalt contractors and waste handling companies think about shingle recycling, providing a practical solution to one of the most notoriously difficult materials to recycle efficiently.

With the RG-1, routine wear costs are limited exclusively to the teeth and screens—no routine hardfacing or wear plate replacement. Other grinders may require frequent, even weekly, hardfacing or other time-consuming maintenance procedures. The RG-1 features a high torque hopper agitator and a floating load leveller that break apart compacted shingles to maintain an even feed rate and keep the rotor at peek efficiency.

The RG-1’s rotating anvil (patent pending) force feeds a steady flow to the rotor for rapid, efficient grinding. A unique rotor forces material outward into a wrap-around screen with over 5,000 square inches of screen surface to quickly grind shingle waste to proper specs.

The clamshell screen design allows fast access to teeth and screens to minimize downtime. The indexable cast carbide teeth offer two grinding faces and can be changed in less than an hour by one person.
