Building Communities

We believe we are at our best when we can bring out the best in the communities around us. We show that by working together, there is no limit to what we can achieve. Our goals include maintaining the Rotochopper tradition of giving, supporting the communities and organizations we serve, and providing opportunities to Rotochopper employees to give back.

EPIC 2019

Program Mission

Rotochopper has a long tradition of community giving, service, and support. We thank the founders of Rotochopper, Fred Peltz of St. Martin, MN, and Vince Hundt of Coon Valley, WI, who started Rotochopper’s tradition of giving back. This long-standing tradition supports Rotochopper’s continued focus to give, serve, and support our local communities. We strive to grow our communities through our spirit of giving with the goals of enhancing the lives of those around us, supporting growth in central Minnesota and impacting communities touched by our employees, customers, and partners. We believe that building a stronger community enhances Rotochopper’s company mission of Keeping our Customers Happy, Our People Employed, and Our Company Profitable in St. Martin, MN.

Education

Education is a key component to the growth and progress of our society. We create a more stable and stimulating community when we lean into education and provide students with experiences and opportunities to learn and grow. This not only affects the students of today but impacts the workforce they will become. Students of all ages are the future employees, community members, and supporters of the companies here in central Minnesota. Educational opportunities offer students the tools and skill sets needed to identify, approach, and resolve challenges. Students today will continue to build and transform the communities of today into the future.

Rotochopper is proud to partner with a variety of schools, both at the elementary level and the high school level, in our local communities of Albany, Belgrade / Brooten / Elrosa, Melrose, Paynesville, ROCORI, and Sauk Centre to name a few. Rotochopper works closely with students at higher education levels as well. St. Cloud Technical College, Alexandria Technical College, St Cloud State University, and North Dakota State University are among the colleges and universities we work with.

“We are most grateful for the outstanding involvement and example that Rotochopper brings to our community and rural Minnesota. Ours is a better place to live, work and grow because of their leadership and participation. Their charitable footprint goes beyond the size of their financial generosity and their level of community involvement. It is found in the character and conviction of their employees, a sense of empathy with a focus on helping others. They embrace American ideals of philanthropy, seeking to share their ambitions and dreams, their success, with the individuals and families who form the nucleus of St. Martin, Paynesville and the surrounding area."

— Michelle Schmitz / Maggie Utsch, Co-Chairs, Paynesville Area Community Foundation

Community

Rotochopper is committed to the communities that it serves. We are especially grateful for our local fire and rescue departments, including Cold Spring, Lake Henry, Paynesville, Richmond and St. Martin. We offer our employees paid time off to serve their community’s fire departments during work hours. We are proud to say that we have two employees that are currently serving as fire chiefs for their local departments and numerous other employees that serve on their local departments.

Our Community Involvement commitments also include work with organizations such as Stearns County Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Roscoe Fun Day, Mid MN Gear Heads, Polar Plunge, Paynesville Area Community Foundation, River Park Community Foundation, and Lake Henry Legion Post 612 to name a few. We are excited to work with community organizations to help grow our local communities.

Health & Well-Being

Rotochopper feels it is important to support the health and well-being of the surrounding communities. Throughout the years we have supported a wide variety of organizations. For example, Carson’s Kindness is an organization that supports autism awareness. The Christmas Care Drive provides a wide variety of items to those in need in our local community during the holiday season. The Hero Foundation is a local organization that supports childhood cancer. Let’s Go Fishing is an organization that enables our elderly and youth to get out and go fishing on central Minnesota lakes in the summer through different excursions they offer. Rotochopper also supported the United Way of Central Minnesota for the third consecutive year and all the great things that they do. Rotochopper is grateful to help and support the health and well-being of our local communities.

Employee & Internal Programs

For years, Rotochopper has offered an Employee Gift Matching Program which allows an employee to donate to a 501(c)(3) organization, with a donation match by Rotochopper. With employees all throughout the United States, we have been able to help organizations from coast to coast through this program. The Employee Gift Matching Program enables us to connect with groups that are close at heart to our employees.

In 2020 Rotochopper launched a new volunteer program for our employees. The program allows individual employees to utilize paid time off when volunteering for organizations of their choosing. In 2022, employees participated in school activities with their children, mentored, helped decorate a nursing home for the holidays, prepared meals for students so they would have nourishment for the weekend, to name a few. We are excited for the growth we saw in 2022 and look forward to years to come and to learn more about our communities as our employees tell their stories of volunteering.
