Rotochopper Inspires the Next Generation During Manufacturing Month

| Rotochopper News

St. Martin, Minnesota — In October, Rotochopper celebrated Manufacturing Month by showcasing the innovation, technology, and craftsmanship that are shaping the future of the manufacturing industry. As part of these efforts, Rotochopper invited students to learn about the rewarding career opportunities the industry has to offer.

Throughout the month, Rotochopper welcomed several groups to its St. Martin facility, including:

  • West Stearns CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) Program
  • St. Cloud Technicial & Community College (SCTCC) Welding Class
  • Kimball High School Small Engines Class
  • Paynesville High School Careers Class
  • New London-Spicer High School Ag Class
  • ACGC (Atwater Cosmos Grove City) High School Small Engines and Welding Classes

During these visits, students toured the facility, met with team members across departments, and saw manufacturing processes firsthand—from welding and electrical assembly to machining and final equipment production. These experiences highlighted the scale of modern manufacturing, the emerging role of advanced technology, and the range of career paths available in manufacturing.

“The real fire ignited wasn’t just the arc—it was seeing the potential in my students as they witnessed true craftsmanship in action during our tour at Rotochopper,” said a welding instructor from St. Cloud Technical & Community College.

“It was great to show my students a successful, small-town manufacturing business like Rotochopper,” added an agriculture teacher from New London-Spicer. “It was a great tour and inspiring to see what St. Martin has to offer.”

Rotochopper also participated in EPIC (Exploring Potential Interests & Careers), an interactive regional event dedicated to helping students discover career paths through hands-on learning. During the event, volunteers from the Rotochopper team guided students through welding, electrical, and machining activities—showcasing the skills involved in various manufacturing careers.

“Manufacturing Month provides an important opportunity to inspire the next generation,” said Vickie Zierden, Senior HR Generalist at Rotochopper. “By welcoming students into our facility, we hope to highlight how today’s manufacturing blends innovation, technology, and meaningful career growth.”

Rotochopper believes the future of manufacturing lies in empowering people and embracing innovation. Through their ongoing commitment to workforce development and industry education, they continue to help build a stronger and more resilient industry.
