Marks Lumber Diversifies While Maintaining Focus on Quality
The Montana U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently named Steve Marks, owner of Marks Lumber, the Montana Small Business Person of the Year. Owner and operator of a Rotochopper B-66 wood grinder (pictured at right), Steve Marks has been steadily expanding into various wood fiber commodity markets, such as colored landscape mulch, animal bedding, boiler fuel, and playground material, to complement the specialty lumber products that form the cornerstone of Marks Lumber.
“Steve Marks is an exceptional businessman, and highly deserving of this award,” states Nick Korn, Steve Marks’ Rotochopper representative. “His passion for work, business foresight, and commitment to providing top quality wood products has helped him successfully diversify and grow his business, while still maintaining focus on the core of his company—supplying high quality specialty lumber products. From specialty lumber to wood fiber commodities produced with their Rotochopper B-66, Marks Lumber is committed to providing products and solutions that benefit both their customers and Montana’s forest lands. Rotochopper is proud to provide the grinding equipment needed to help Marks Lumber grow and diversify their business.”
The Small Business Week Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 2, at 12:30 p.m in Helena, MT.
